Flyfish Taupo

Is your idea of paradise likened to the untouched wilderness of the movie “Jurassic Park”? Then you are getting close to the unfathomable landscape that you will experience while fly fishing the many remote rivers surrounding Lake Taupo.

Only by helicopter can you access the pristine waters of the great Wanganui, the Mohaka, Rangitkei and Ripia Rivers - all of which have unique qualities of their own.

These rivers offer a challenge to even the most experienced angler, and the rewards are well worth the trip.  Warmer summer months provide the perfect setting for both brown and rainbow trout that are willing to surface for a well presented dry fly.  Nymphing can also be used when conditions don’t favour a dry.

All fishing equipment, licence and lunch are provided.  A reasonable level of fitness is required on these remote rivers.

Allow a full 8 hours for this trip

Specialists in Wilderness Fishing & Trophy Trout
From October through April there are some outstanding fly fishing opportunities for both browns and rainbows. Sight fishing for trout in crystal clear water is what it’s all about. The trout are resident fish, both browns and rainbows ranging in weight from 4lbs to 6lbs, and in remote mountain streams - the double figured (10lbs).

Great dry fly action can be had December through to March with the Cicada hatch producing some wonderful fishing.
